Frequently Asked Questions

How much water should I drink after a massage?

Roughly 500 - 650 ml within the first hour of the massage. Avoid rapidly drinking water, instead sip throughout the day. Continue drinking water to help your body flush out any toxins that could have been released during the massage. Avoid caffeine as it can dehydrate your muscles when they need water to flush the toxins out.

What should I wear for a massage?

Clothes that are comfortable enough for you to be able to move.

Shorts that can be moved up to expose the full leg.

Females a bra that can be unhooked from the back.

How soon after a sports massage can you exercise?

For general maintenance treatment I would suggest a monthly massage. For those training frequently it may suit to have a massage two weeks.

Will I experience soreness after a sports massage?

There are many reasons you may experience soreness. Any areas of tightness or knots tend to be more sensitive and could ache, as during the massage they will loosen up and stimulate blood flow. Sports massage also works deep into muscle fibres which can cause mild, temporary inflammation as your muscles respond to the pressure. Soreness can typically last 24-48 hours.

How often should you get a massage if you run/train oftenly?

To experience the maximum benefit of the massage it is ideal to rest for 24-48 hours to allow time for muscles to recover. Some light exercise like walking, jogging, and gentle yoga is encouraged.

What time should I arrive for my appointment?

Please arrive 10-15 minutes before your appointment so that we can discuss your consultation form and create a treatment plan you would like.
